Every woman should perform monthly breast self-exams. Read the three how to tips below.
1. Look - Make sure you are standing, facing a full-length mirror. Keep your arms at your side and then raise them above your head. Scan your skin and look for anything different such as dimpling, redness, a rash, puckering, or swelling.
2. Feel - While in the shower, use the fingertips of one hand to examine your breasts in a circular motion, starting at the outside perimeter and working your way in toward the nipple. Probe the region next to the armpit as well.
3. Recheck - If you notice anything abnormal wait through one menstrual cycle and examine it again before calling your doctor.
