Yoga

Beauty Blog: Health and Fitness

If you are a regular on my beauty blog you know every Sunday for the past three weeks I have been blogging about my personal goal to drop the rest of my pregnancy weight plus 5 pounds. I had a beautiful baby boy 8 weeks ago and am working on getting my body back. Each week I think of goals for myself, I write about the successes I have had along with the failures. Nothing in life is easy right? If it was I would be at the weight I wanted by now.

So today I am writing about yoga. I have done yoga in the past and enjoy the way I feel during and after. I also know there are great health benefits to yoga. I have been doing a lot of reading in the fitness and health magazines I get every month and it seems a theme in many of them for October is Yoga. Some have been short articles, some have been personal exercise stories, etc. This got me thinking. I want to add yoga to my weekly workout. Yet I am struggling with exactly how to do that. With three kids all different ages, a company to run, a non profit to run, and life I am not sure where yoga fits in. I think the only days I can do yog have to be the days when I run. I usually run Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday for 30 minutes. I could fit in yoga after that. This is where the problem arises. The gym that I now work out at only offers yoga once a day and not every day. This is a problem for me. And the times they offer yoga just don’t work. My schedule doesn’t allow me to do yoga at 10:30 am, noon or 7 pm. Those are the times and maybe one other time. Just not working for me. Then I thought about a yoga studio but that seems silly since I only plan to add yoga into my schedule one day a week. Plus the fees that some yoga studios charge is just like a gym membership. I have also thought about doing yoga at home. That is where you, my readers come into play.. I need your help and your advice.

Should I go to a yoga studio and pay the fees for yoga once a week? If so, where in Denver do you do your yoga?
Should I do yoga at home? If so what yoga videos or channel do you suggest? We have Direct TV so I would need a channel on Direct TV.

I look forward to feedback on this goal that I have for next week. I think that yoga will help center me and with three kids and a husband I am sure I need some of that. It will give me some peace in my day, it will also help strengthen and elongate my muscles.

  • Yoga can be practiced at home if you can have some privacy for a few minutes in the morning or evening hours… Going to a class and seek help from a teacher is a good option as well.. I don’t know about videos but you can go through a book titled ‘Patanjali Yoga’ by Vivekananda. I found it to be very helpful.
