Week Ten - Changing It Up

Week ten came and went before I even knew it. This is a good thing since my life has been so crazy with my infant son being sick. Seems like he is on the mend again so life can get back on track. I started off this week with a run outside that was close to two miles. It felt great, as always, to be outside for a run and start my week off right. On Monday for my workout I decided to change it up a little and do a combination of upper body and lower body workout based on a circuit I found in the November 2009 issue of Women’s Health Magazine. Here it is, I have made notes where I modified an exercise.
The instructions said to do 12 reps of each exercise and complete the circuit three times except for the plank.
- Pushups - I did angled pushups on a bar because my right wrist gives me trouble when I do traditional pushups
- Dumbbell Chest Press on ball
- Crunches on ball
- Plank - this should be for 60 seconds but I could only do it for 30 seconds the first time and then 20 seconds the last two times
- Dumbbell Front Raises
- Dumbbell Side Raises
- Dumbbell Bicep Curls
- Walking Lunges
- Squats with Dumbbells
- Box Jumps - there is nothing listed about the size of the box and I don’t normally do these so I started with a small box
This was a great workout and a great way to change things up for me. I felt the workout challenge me during the front and side raises because I rarely do those exercises when doing my upper body. I also felt the challenge over time with the box jumps. My rear was sore the next day from those and the walking lunges. I know I pushed myself during this workout and it felt great. I plan to do this circuit once a week.
The rest of my week went well. However I have not been writing down what I eat and I know I would feel better about things if I added this back into my daily routine. So the plan this week is to increase my cardio workouts to at least 35-40 minutes rather than 20-25 and start recording my food.
