Week Four
Beauty Blog: Health and Fitness
Week four came and went and here I am updating on my week. Overall I think it was a good week for me. I accomplished my goal of doing the 4.02 miles to the Cherry Creek Mall and back. I actually ran the whole first two miles and it felt really good. I always seem to do better when I run outside. I think it has to do with seeing myself reach a destination rather than just the same scenery all the time. Overall this week I completed over 9 miles. I know this is one of the reasons I have dropped another pound and feel a little bit better. Running really takes off the pounds for me and I wish fall wasn’t here just yet so I would have more time to do my outside running. Oh well.
My strength training also went well this week. I did my upper body twice and my lower body once. If you have not read my blogs for the past three weeks, I run every other day and then lift the other days. I do upper body two days one week and one the next and the same with lower body. I do feel that my upper body is becoming stronger. I have to admit that when I started I had to use 5 pound weights for some of my exercises because I didn’t want to be too sore. Now I am up to 10 pounds on most of my exercises. I do three sets of each exercise doing 20 reps, 15 reps and then 10 reps.
Something I realized this week about working out is that I do a better job when I workout in the morning. On Friday I had to work out in the evening and I was tired and I didn’t want to go. I made myself go and do my upper body workout. Had I gone in the morning I know I would have added a mile run before working out but I didn’t. So as I continue on my journey, I plan to try to do as many of my workouts in the morning as possible. This way I will be able to give 100% and see more results.
Eating went really well this week as well. I was able to account for every calorie I had every day. I looked at every label and followed serving sizes. I also used online resources to find out how many calories were in foods I ate at restaurants. This made me more aware of how horrible most of the food that is served at restaurants is for me. I am now much more selective of where I eat out when I do. This also makes me want to take advantage of my Saturday of free eating. I was disappointed that I did not make it to Red Robin this Saturday for their french fries.
My goal for week 5 is to add a yoga class to one of the days when I run. I think adding a yoga class will help lean out my muscles while with the ones that are tight. I am struggling with where I will do my yoga class. The gym I belong to doesn’t have that many yoga classes a week and the times they offer do not work with my schedule. I also do not feel like paying dues to belong to a yoga studio on top of a gym. Any DVD suggestions? It has been suggested that I try the Wii Fit Yoga.
Let me know your yoga suggestions and how your week of working out went. Have a great week and I look forward to reporting back on Sunday. I am hoping for a two pound weight loss.
