Week Eight - State of Mind

Beauty Blog: Health and Fitness

I have now completed 8 weeks of exercising since Karson was born. I still am not 100% satisfied with where I am in terms of my weight loss but I cannot complain since Karson will be 3 months old on the 5th and I have less than 10 pounds to go. For 7 weeks I had been working out at a 24 Hour Fitness gym and I knew that I didn’t love it there. I kept thinking back to the gym I worked out at before I was pregnant with Karson and when I really worked out hard and was almost at my goal weight but then got pregnant. I longed for the classes that gym offered at great times, I longed for the fitness equipment and other equipment that gym offered, I longed for the workouts that I had done there that worked for me. I had seen it work and I knew it could work.

There are times in life when saving some money doesn’t always work with our happiness. This was the case for me with my gym choices. I knew over time I could grow to like the 24 Hour Fitness I belonged to and I could adapt like to their layout and lack of what I needed in a workout. However, it would not let me reach my goals in the time frame I wanted to. So I made a choice and I returned to my previous gym. Wow what a difference it has made in my workouts and my overall mindset when working out.

This week I pushed myself harder than I have in a few weeks. I returned to the routine I had before I was pregnant with Karson. When doing my upper body I started running stairs again in between sets. This keeps my heart rate up and gets in some cardio at the same time. I felt great after this workout! I added some additional ab exercises to the end of my workouts and I could feel and see a difference in one week. I also was very happy to be adding Kettlebells back into my workout. I did a few Kettlebell exercises to help with my abs and weight loss and I loved it. I am sure I will start taking a Kettlebell class in the near future so you can expect to hear more about that.

This week I learned that sometimes being happy is more important than saving $20 a month. I love being back at my old gym!

The only thing left to tweek right now is my music! Help with music suggestions to keep up the intensity of a workout!
