Beauty Blog: Body Care

I do not know how many times I have walked into a store and not had one person say hello to me. It is because I am not dressed to the nines or I don’t have my hair and make up done? Or is it because I don’t look like I will spend any money or have money to spend? I think everyone has had this experience before and it reminds me of Julie Roberts in Pretty Woman when she is treated like crap in a store because they don’t think she has money to spend when in fact she does.

I also think of the time that I am either pressured so much to buy that I walk out of a store because I cannot even look around at what I want to see or what I came in to check out. Or the times when you have a few questions about a product and the staff acts as if they have been put out by your request or they are too busy.

Recently I had an experience that was the opposite as what I have described above. I visited The Body Shop located in the Colorado Mills Mall and was greeted by two of the nicest people. The small store was not that busy but Manuel and Laura were as friendly as could be. I was looking for a new face lotion and Manuel was interested enough in what I was looking for that he gave me his “sales pitch” and then had a conversation with me just about products. I sampled a few and settled on The Body Shop’s new organic skincare line, Nutriganics with the assurance from Manuel that if I was not satisfied that I could return to his store with no questions asked. I also discussed with Manuel and Laura my dislike for The Body Shop’s shower gel. This prompted them to give me three samples of their Olive line. You can see from yesterday’s blog that I did really like the Olive Scrub and it is because Manuel and Laura took the time to listen to me and give me some samples to try.

I encourage you to shop at The Body Shop in the Colorado Mills Mall if you need to get your beauty fix. This is the only The Body Shop that I will shop and it is all about great customer service. Thanks Manuel and Laura.

  • It’s all about service. And frankly it does not matter one whit what kind of business it is. When I feel like the people are happy to see me and willing to engage and build a relationship with me, I know that they value me as a customer. I return to those places. We all need to remember that and apply it. I find that the right attitude becomes infectious too, and if we’re not really feeling it the more we practice being thankful and being a servant in spite of not feeling it our negative attitude will turn around even if we didn’t think it possible.
