- Patty’s Story
My best friend Patti is a mom who rocks! Patti is a 5th grade teacher, a single mom of two amazing children, Cindy, 15, and John, almost 12, and the most wonderful and devoted friend. Despite all she has going on, she is the most patient, loving and compassionate mother. She single-handedly cares for her children, supports them in their activities, and loves them with her whole heart. Since we are both mothers, I constantly rely on her for advice about raising kids. Because her children are the most well-behaved, well-mannered, kind and loving teenagers I have ever been around, I am inspired by her to be a good mother.
The impact that she has on the lives of others, not just her children, is indescribable. As a teacher, she motivates and inspires all of her students. She touches the lives of everyone who meet her, even strangers, through her kind smile, friendly disposition and easy conversation. Her genuine compliments make all who come in contact with her feel so appreciated and loved.
She always puts the needs and wants of her children ahead of her own and never spends money on herself. For all she does and all she is, she deserves more than anyone I know to be pampered for Mother’s Day! -Heather
- Catherine’s Story
Now that I am a mother, I truly know what unconditional love is. It ‘s the same love my mother has for her children. No matter what decisions your children make, or how they frustrate you at times, you still care deeper than any feeling could describe. You want them around you, you want to comfort and protect them; teach them and watch them grow.
Over the years, my mother and I have not always seen eye-to-eye on everything. Mainly she gives her opinions about decisions that I have made for myself. Usually she’s right, and my decisions affect others in ways I didn’t understand or could predict. She’s pretty much always right when it comes to morals of treating people fairly and honest.
She raised me as a single mother for eight years, until my brother and his father joined us, they split up after I moved out. My brother was in about 8th grade. Single mother again, she did the best she could to raise a man. But that often takes a man. My mom and brother “bumped heads” quite often, he moved back and forth between she and his dad’s a few times, finally resulting in finishing his last two years of high school with me. My mom has been single and living alone ever since.
She works as a critical care unit secretary in one of two hospitals in her town; the weekend grave-yard shift that nobody wants. She likes it for the extra pay of weekends and overnights; however they are taking that from her..."Budget Cutbacks” are costing her 800 of a 2700 dollar a month gross income. Always trying to be optimistic and look for the lessons in her experiences she tells me she is happy to be downsizing, and the new budget will do her some good. She is having to sell her 3 bedroom house, with the huge yard she loves to tend so much, for an efficiency apartment downtown. I feel bad for my mother and all of the sacrifies that she is having to face. I also wish there was something I could do to suppliment her loses, but I am also a single mother and a teacher; therefore broke!
My mother has taught me so many valuable qualities through her actions and decisions she makes for herself in life. There is no way I will ever be able to repay her for all she has done for and taught me, but because of how wonderful she is, I know I wouldn’t even have to begin to try. My mother is kind, compassionate, honest, trustworhty and dependable because she knows these are good things to be, not because she wants someone to thank, pay her back, or recognize her for it. I only hope I will be as insipiring of a mother to my daughter.
She is awesome and deserves some pampering and relaxation without anyone having to go in debt for it
