More about Miessence Products

Beauty Blog: Skin care

Last week I blogged about a conversation I had with Erin Ely about Organic Products, this week she has shared information about Miessence Products and I found the information to be valuable and wanted to share with my readers.

Miessence is one of a handful of products that are certified organicMiessence was actually the first in the world to meet the food standard for certified organic.  Miessence has been certified organic since 2001. You can find a list of Miessence certified organic products here.

Miessence is manufactured by ONEgroup (Organic and Natural Enterprise Group).  ONEgroup is based in Australia and Miessence is manufactured in Australia.  ONEgroup does have a US warehouse in Nevada, and that is where the products are shipped from. ONEgroup is a mission orientated company focused on ethical and environmentally sustainable principles and contributing to a better future for people and the planet. For us it’s about what Ghandi described as “be(ing) the change you wish to see”. We believe that business can be a major force for change in creating a ‘Preferred Future’ as termed by the Brundtland Commission, along the lines of sustainable development which implies “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs “.

I have been with ONEgroup since March of 2005.  My personal business: Ely Organics is carbon neutral and I purchase carbon offsets for my business.

ONEgroup is carbon neutral, they offset all the emissions from manufacturing and shipping world wide.  This is updated quarterly.  ONEgroup contributes to the David Suzuki foundation.

ONEgroup is also a signer of the Compact For Safe Cosmetics and all of the Miessence products are rated on the EWG website; Skin Deep Database. All Miessence products rate in the 0 - 2 range, which is considered “low hazard”

One way to tell if an “organic” botanical product is truly potent is if it has color to it...like say for example a shampoo or conditioner, moisturizer, etc you buy is either totally white or has no color to it, this means that the botanical extracts are extremely dillute and do not play much of a part in the actual amount of the ingredients. All Miessence products are made from extremely concentrated/potent botanical extracts, that’s why they cost what they cost. Real, potent extracts are expensive.

Companies can make less expensive products but it’s because they are not actually using 1) certified organic 2) they are dilluting their hebs massively, so much so that there is no color to the products, so if you look at a product and it is not color, darker color they have massively dilluted their botanical extracts with water or alcohol.

If you have questions for Erin leave them here or visit ElyOrganics.com - Your Source for Miessence Certified Organic Products.. All of the information above was provided by Erin.
