Fingers & Toes, A Nail Retreat History
Beauty Blog: Hands and Feet, Interviews
Fingers and Toes, A Nail Retreat is a wonderful Denver Nail Salon located on Broadway Street. I recently had the chance to get some more information from the owners, mother - daughter duo Robbi Nelson and Alli Byrne. Here are the questions we asked and the answers in their own words. Enjoy getting to know Robbi and Alli and more about their nail salon.
Why did you decide to open your nail salon on University Blvd and not downtown or in Cherry Creek North?
We decided to open the salon on University because the space became available at just the right time! We were looking on Pearl Street, and also in nearby areas. University was PERFECT. great traffic to generate customers. We love our neighboring businesses, so the space is the PERFECT place for us. We also wanted to be in close proximity to businesses that we wanted to support and this is just the location for that! To see a list of our favorite businesses, please view our site.
Why the name Fingers & Toes?
The name Fingers and Toes came to my Mother in the middle of the night. She loved it. We were looking for a name that was catchy and whimsical. She came downstairs, I was visiting from California, and said, “Allison, what do you think of this name...” We giggled and said, “Perfect!” it suits us and suits the business.
What makes your nail salon different than most?
Fingers & Toes is dedicated to service and value. All of our licensed specialists sincerely enjoy what we do and it is reflective on the smiles and repeat business of our clients. We promise individual attention and great value for all of our customers. We also pride ourselves in our ability to provide immaculate sanitation and disinfection for the health of everyone in our salon. We provide each customer with a new nail file and buffer in which they may take with them at the end of their service. Otherwise, they will be disguarded. We use a heat sterilizer in addition to liquid disinfectant on all of our metal implements and tools. We are proud to say we use OPI sanitation and disinfection products on our pipeless jet pedicure tubs. This ensures each client receives not only the best service, but the security of knowing the salon for its cleanliness factor.
Why Footologix products?
Today’s lifestyle changes compared to the past are having a major impact on the health of the skin and nails on our feet – and this is evident in all age groups from young children to seniors. Many people today have a greater need for extra foot care due to calluses, thick, dry cracked skin on their heels, fungus or specific health issues.
The creators of Footlogix™ Pediceuticals recognized the need for products that offer more than ‘feel good, fragrant cosmetics’ used in conventional ‘fluff and buff’ pedicures but in fact, foot care products developed specifically to address the health of your feet. This is where ‘medi meets pedi’!
What made you choose to support 31 Bits Designs?
31 Bits is a fair trade organization, based out of Gulu, Uganda. They work with displaced women who use their talents to create beautiful jewelry made from recycled paper. 31 Bits is centered around using the creative art and entrepreneurship already present in the women, which empowers them and enables them to have a sustainable income.
We would love for you, and even ask you, to catch the vision of hope and join with 31 Bits and the women of Uganda. Fingers & Toes is proud to be a part of 31 bits designs. We sell their various designs and 100% of the proceeds go back directly to the organization. We encourage you to check out their website and read more about their story. 31bits.com With a little bit of paper...you can share a lot of love!
Has it been difficult working together since you are Mother and Daughter?
It is not hard working together as mother and daughter. In most ways, we feel we are blessed. It is definitely easier to work with a family member. There is a rustic honesty that bonds us far more than any other business bond could. Being a mother-daughter team, we know each other’s strengths and can balance those strengths together. It is perfect harmony, of course we have our ups and downs, but moreover the normal mother-daughter ups and downs. Business-wise, we get along far greater than one would think. We are thankful to have a family owned business, and are very thankful for each other. Fingers and Toes would not be here without one or the other. We go together, and will continue to do so as our business grows.
Robbi do you prefer a manicure or a pedicure and why?
I enjoy pedicures and getting acrylic nails. We specialize in making acrylics thin and natural. According to Alli, This makes my mother happy
She’s an acyliholic
Alli do you prefer a manicure or a pedicure and why?
I don’t often get a service done myself, as I am usually the one SERVICING in the salon. I enjoy giving pedicures. I especially love the custom pedicure but, more than anything, I love doing manicures. There is something girly and fun about sitting across from someone, gossiping, giggling, and painting nails. Its delightful. and makes work seem more like a fun day out with a friend.
How do you see your business growing in the next several years?
Who knows what the future holds. We hope to open another location within the next few years. Stay tuned! Fingers and Toes is just beginning!

Comments on Fingers & Toes, A Nail Retreat History
My name is Rebecca, I would like to recommend a product called Snoosy that pampers my toes time after time.
I am a teacher and I spend most of the day standing on my feet. Soon that I get home I place my Snoosy between my toes and instantly the aches and tension are gone.
I would love to hear if you tried this wonderful product.
