Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Beauty Blog: Make-up

In recent years I have become a fan of using some type of eyeshadow primer. I think it helps keep the eyeshadow on all day and can add a touch of color if you select a colored one rather than a nude one. I also started to use primer because my eyes often water and my mid-morning my eyeshadow was either gone or had clumped in the crease of my eyelids. Not very attractive! Beauty image

Once my usual eyeshadow primer ran out, I decided to try a new brand and I came across Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I selected the color SIN since it seemed to have a little more shine to it than the NUDE. The bottle design is also different than what I am use to. Most of the primers I have used in the past I apply with just my finger or you can use a brush. This primer comes with its own wand that is slightly angled - see the image. I found this product at Sephora’s but I am sure you can find it at ULTA as well or online.

This product is not one of my total favs. There are some things I like about it and others I really don’t. I do really like the color and the bit of shine that is in it. I think the packaging is really neat and trendy. However I do not like the wand at all. I tried it for several days and I did not feel like the wand spread the primer evenly over my lids so I was always using my finger to finish it up. So I gave up on the wand and just used it to get out the primer to put on my finger. That worked much better. The other problem I had with the primer is that it didn’t stay put. When my eyes watered the primer and my shadowed clumped in the crease of my lid thus creating a horrible look and a big clump stuck to my lid. For me it is really hard to know if my eyes are going to water or not so I think this product it out of my make-up routine.

If your eyes do not have watering issues then this could be a great primer for you but not for me. Here is what Urban Decay has to say about their product.

This miracle eyeshadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets.
The formula is full of silicone, which you beauty mavens know makes for a smooth and silky application. Packaged in a pretty genie bottle, our Potion applies with a magic wand and flocked applicator.
Tips: A little goes a long way! Apply a thin coat and let dry, then apply Eyeshadow as you normally would. Then DARE it to crease. (Double-dog dare it, even!)
Fill Weight: 10ml e 0.34 US fl. oz.
