I never really started to worry about the number of calories I took in each day until after I had my second child. I was older, I had given birth twice. I was not as skinny as I had been before I had my first child at 27. At 30 after my second child was born I realized the pounds stuck on a little longer and I needed to eat right to keep them off. I already liked to exercise so that was not a big deal. Fast forward to now. Here I am again, having had another child and wondering how many calories I eat a day.
In the last year my family and I have started to eat pretty healthy except on Saturday when we eat whatever and whenever we want. It is pizza, burgers, ice cream, cookies - all the stuff that we don’t have during the week. I also started back on my goal to drop the pregnancy weight I gained over the last 36 weeks. I keep a food journal everyday along with an exercise journal. This helps keep me on track and accountable for everything I put in my mouth, good or bad. There are foods that I know are good for me without looking at the label - boneless/skinless chicken, turkey meat, water, etc. But there are foods that I was eating that I had no idea. I also was having a tea from Starbucks that I loved but had no idea how many calories it contained.
Well my reality took a hit. In my food journal I try to keep track of the number of calories I have a day so I needed to know how many calories were in my Starbucks tea and banana loaf that I had a few times a week. The realization was shocking and I learned that both of these are treats I can save for the weekend!
My daily Tazo® Passion™ Shaken Iced Tea from Starbucks packs a 130 calories for a Venti. Wow! Not something I should be having daily with my “snack”. Now if I add the famous banana loaf with it, then you add 360 calories for a total of 490 calories for a “snack”. That is more than my normal lunches. I was blowing my diet and my healthy eating!
According to dietfacts.com, I can have a Big Mac for 560 calories, essentially a meal. What an eye opener this was for me. No more daily Starbucks runs. If I need a tea instead of water, I will make the tea I have at home that has 0 calories and is sugar free.

Hello I think counting calories is not good. I do not think you know exactly what you spend and NUTRITION FAT are approximate. I think it’s best to keep our blood glycemic index when eating. EXPERIENCE We noticed that when the glycemic index is low then you manage to lose weight.
