Have you taken a look in your closet lately and wished you had more to choose from? I certainly do. But the way the times are right now, I really do not want to go spend a bunch of money on summer clothes. I along with many others out there have figured out a way to get more out of what we have in our closets, add to our style and beat the recession. Well if you can beat the recession.
Here is what you can do:
* Look at what clothes you already had and think of what you really needed rather than what you really want for summer.
* Make a list - an example: a pair of jean shorts, black shorts, white shorts, khaki shorts, black capri pants, a plan white shirt, a plan black shirt, a pair of white flip flops and a pair of black flip flops.
* Figure out which items on your list you want and need the most and where you are going to shop.
Also remember what you already have in your closet in terms of shirts, jackets, other shorts, shoes and accessories. This will help keep you away from getting similar items that you already have. Think of going to the stores that you know have great sales and the stores that have great prices. Try to keep your shopping limited to one area - a mall, an outdoor shopping plaza, etc. This will also eliminate what you spend on gas. If you spend less when you shop alone then go alone, if you need help from a friend drag one along but make sure you tell them that you are shopping on a budget.
While you are shopping for your staple items, look at the accessories. Accessories are the best way to change up an outfit, add a bit of color and define your own personal style. If you had planned on spending $50 on an outfit for summer but have now decided to add smart items to your wardrobe, then you will have some extra dough to spend on great accessories. When checking out accessories in a store, always - always look to see if they have any on sale or if they have a buy 2 get 1 free. Many stores from Express to The Limited to Aldo have items on sale or buy one get one 50% off. Your best bet is SALE items. You again get more for your money. One of my personal favorite stores for accessories is Forever21. Their prices are usually unbeatable and I have yet to have a problem with any of my accessories from there. Great accessories do not have to be earrings and bracelets. They can be shoes, belts, jackets, headbands, barrets, scarves, hats, etc. Think outside the box this summer. Also snag a great summer purse that will go well with almost everything you have in your closet. With these suggestions and your own style you should be able to create a lot of outfits with very little money and fool everyone into thinking you have spent a ton on your summer wardrobe.
