10k Training Update

I recently left the country for two weeks to visit my brother who is a Marine in Japan. I haven’t seen him in a year and a half so it was great to see his family and spend some time in Japan. While I was there, my training suffered. I had every intention to stay on my training schedule but it didn’t work out that way. It is HOT and humid in Japan even at 7 am. I was also on a military base so it wasn’t like I had a lot of options for working out.
I was able to run 9 of the 14 days I was away but I didn’t get in my 4 mile runs. I ran around the military base that had hills on beginning and ending of the loops I was doing. On the base I would do two loops and be sweating my rear off and I am not a sweater. The days at the beach I ran on the beach and around where we were staying. It was a good workout for two of the days we were there. I was only able to weight train one day while I was gone and I wasn’t able to spin. This all being said, I am going to have to crank it up for the next 3 weeks before my 10k
Yesterday I got on the spin bike for the first time in 2 weeks and I could tell I had been away. My legs felt the workout after the 30 minutes I rode. Running and biking are just not the same workout for the legs. I am back on my plan now and hope to make the 10k a great race.
